Planet of the Apes Meets Boyhood

Two movies came out at the same time recently. Rise of the Planet of the Apes and Richard Lanklater’s indie movie Boyhood. Coincidence? I think not. These two movies belong together as shown here. Boyhood is filmed over 12 years showing a child growing up, using the same cast over that time period. Both were pretty good movies on their own, but Nelson Carvajal makes them better by merging both together.

This trailer makes our ape-infested future a feel good movie. Here we see Caesar as a young chimp growing up in the world so that he can take his place in future ape history. If only that terrible future were this touching.
