Building the NX-01 Warp Core and Engineering Room

by Conner Flynn

I have to say that Captain Archer’s Enterprise is one of my favorites. I just love the retro design that goes back toward Kirk’s Enterprise. Much of the ship is like a sub. Tough, but cramped. Doug Drexler worked as a senior Illustrator and CGI designer on Star Trek: Enterprise, and luckily for us, he recently shared some behind-the-scenes footage from the construction of the NX-01 sets. Watch and see for yourself how the engineering room was created.

“One of the most thrilling things about working on Star Trek was watching the construction gang in the “Marathon Mill” take our sketches and blueprints and make them real,”

He kept a video record during the original creation of the NX sets and it is a real treat to watch. Can you believe that that beautiful engineering set was created from nothing.
