A 1970s Documentary About NASA’s Space Shuttles

by Kenny Hoeschen

Rockwell International, which was part of the team that built the NASA Space Shuttle — the most successful and prodigious space program ever undertaken —  put together this documentary program in the mid 1970s to explain the space shuttle. Chosen in 1972, the space shuttle was the most complex machine ever built at the time. Now retired, the program leaves behind a record of significant achievements along with more than one tragic accident.

But it’s interesting to look back at the plans and hopes for the program before the first space shuttle ever left Earth for orbit.
