Pluto’s Five Moons Explained

by Kenny Hoeschen

Kurzgesagt, a YouTube channel that creates short videos explaining things and who previously gave us a great animated look at the Moons of Mars and our Solar System takes a look at the planetoid Pluto and its five moons. Charon, by far the biggest moon of the dwarf planet, dominates the system and is large even compared to Pluto. The other moons, Nix, Hydra, Kerberos, and Styx are tiny in comparison.

We don’t really know much about Pluto or its moons because its orbit is so very far away from us. In July 2015, the New Horizons spacecraft will reach Pluto’s region after traveling for more than 10 years and three billion miles. We’ll then know much more about Pluto and its moons.
