The Evolution of Visual Effects: 1878-2014

Youtuber Jim Casey did an incredible amount of digging and splicing and put together this montage of movie special effects tracing the history of the craft from the first films in 1878 to today. Everything from stop motion, guys in rubber costumes, hand-drawn animation, CGI, after effects and more is included.

We’re glad to see a number of examples of the great stop-motion animation of Ray Harryhausen. How many other films could yo identify from those clips?
