The BBC’s Interactive Scale of Space

by Kenny Hoeschen
The BBC’s Interactive Scale of Spacezoom in

The universe is enormous. So vast and expansive that’s it’s very difficult for humans to even comprehend. Scientists and illustrators have tried many different methods to convey the universe’s size and we’ve shared many of our favorites before. The BBC shared a 27-page long infographic, htwins gave us their interactive graphic, and we’ve seen videos from Beakus,¬†Universe Today and It’s Okay to be Smart¬†that have attempted illustrated the scale.

In addition to their 27-page chart, the BBC created this amazing interactive graphic showing a rocket leaving Earth and traveling through the expanses of space. We can’t embed the graphic, so you’ll have to visit the BBC site to see it in all its glory. Just be prepared to do an awful lot of scrolling.
