Godzilla & Hiroshima, The Origin of Godzilla

Godzilla & Hiroshima: The Dawn of Kaiju Eiga is a documentary film by Spanish producer and director Jonathan Bellés. A new trailer for the film contains portions of the interviews with Haruo Nakajima (who played Godzilla from 1954 to 1972), Kenpachiro Satsuma (who portrayed the kaiju from 1984 to 1995), actor Akira Takarada, and director Shusuke Kaneko in which they discuss the origins of Godzilla and the political messages in the original 1954 film.

The documentary examines the connection between the Kaiju Eiga (Japanese giant monster movies) and the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The film explores the birth of the Kaiju Eiga genre and how the audience reacted during its early years. The film includes interviews with critics, historians and other experts in the field from Spain, France, Belgium, United States, Canada and Japan.
