Jeffrey Brown has had great success with his wonderful series of books based on what it might be like to grow up in the Star Wars universe. His first books were based on the childhoods of Luke and Leia and his new series follows a young boy, Roan Novachez, during his years at the Jedi Academy. The first book in the series was Star Wars: Jedi Academy and the second in the series, Star Wars: Jedi Academy, Return of the Padawan is available now for pre-order with a release date of July 29, 2014.

This delightful book continues to follow Roan during his second year at the Jedi Academy. But Roan feels like he’s drifting apart from his friends, and it’s only made worse when Roan discovers he’s not the amazing pilot he thought he’d be. My 9-year-old daughter jumped on this book when I received a review copy and she absolutely loved it. She found it to be very funny and enjoyable. We recommend it for any aspiring padawan or just any fan of Star Wars.
