The Purge: Anarchy, A Sequel to the 2013 Sleeper Hit

by Kenny Hoeschen

The Purge was a low-budget thriller that came out last summer and turned out to be an underground hit. Now Universal is already teasing the trailer for the sequel, likely hoping to ride on the success of the first film before we all forget about it. The sequel, entitled The Purge: Anarchy, is also set in a future America in which the government has an idea to help curb crime:  one night each year simply refuse to enforce any laws for a period of 12 hours. What could go wrong?

This second trailer shows much more of what to expect in the film as innocent people are caught in the open when The Purge begins. And it seems some people are kidnapped to be auctioned off in a “final purge” event held by the privileged few.

The Purge: Anarchy opens on July 18, 2014.
