What Makes an Exoplanet Habitable?

Thanks to the work of the Kepler mission, NASA has confirmed the existence of hundreds of exoplanets and we’ve estimated the total number of habitable to be in the billions (with a “B”). But if you’re wondering what makes an exoplanet habitable, The Guardian gives us this handy infographic explaining the parameters. The requirements include the planet’s orbiting distance from the host star and its similarity to Earth. It’s interesting to see that our very own Mars falls within the acceptable parameters.
