Ender’s Game: A VFX Breakdown

by Kenny Hoeschen

Last year’s adaption of the classic Orson Scott Card novel, Ender’s Game, was disappointing to a lot of fans of the book and critics were pretty lukewarm about it, too. But the film was filled with some amazing special effects. The Formics screaming through space in intricate formations was incredible to see and the zero-G training room scenes were fun to see on film after imagining them while reading the book.

In this VFX breakdown by the post23 visual effects team, we go behind the scenes on the making of The Mind Game scene in which Ender Wiggin is playing a sort of role-playing simulation and goes further than any student had ever gone before.
