The Time of Apollo: A 1975 NASA Documentary

by Kenny Hoeschen

Burgess Meredith narrates this documentary film from 1975, looking back at the then-recent success of NASA’s Apollo program which safely landed men on the Moon. The documentary is set in and around the Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida. It’s fascinating to see how we viewed the Apollo program at the time.

In 1961 United States President John F. Kennedy stated ‘This nation should commit itself to achieving the goal, before this decade is out, of landing a man on the Moon and returning him safely to Earth’. This film presents the achievements of NASA’s Apollo manned space program which allowed man to set foot on the moon in 1969.
