The Most Important Science Images: It’s OK to be Smart

Although science isn’t always considered a visual art, sometimes an image conveys a scientific principal of such importance or expresses a concept so well that it has a profound effect on the science world.

Joe Hanson of It’s Okay to be Smart gives us his list of the images he considers to be the most important science images in history. (Links to each image are included in the YouTube description.)

Can you think of any important scientific images that Hanson didn’t include? What about some of the early sketches of what dinosaurs by archeologists? Or, along the lines of Earthrise, the view of Earth beyond Saturn taken from the Cassini spacecraft.
