Could Darth Vader’s Death Star Actually Destroy Earth?

Could Darth Vader’s Death Star Actually Destroy Earth?zoom in

Does the Death Star actually have the power to destroy entire planets? Yes and no. First, of course it does, that’s it’s whole purpose and we saw it destroy Alderaan while we (and Leia) watch. On the other hand, Star Wars was just a movie and the Death Star isn’t real. But how much energy would it take to destroy Earth or the other planets in our lovely Solar System?

Well, some people over at Wpromote took a look at the data and crunched the numbers for us. Turns out it would require approximately 2.25 x 10^32 joules. Bring it on, Vader!
