Middle Earth Recreated in Outerra Software

Outerra is a 3D planetery software engine for rendering planets from space down to the surface of the land. Using sophisticated fractal algorithms, the software allows for astoundingly realistic landscapes.

Now, a group of enterprising fans have created a detailed digital elevation model (DEM) of Tolkien’s Middle Earth. The group intends to map it in every feasible aspect, potentially to build a highly detailed model which includes rivers, vegetation, buildings, roads, even subterranean features. “In short, a living, breathing Middle Earth!”

Now, if someone could just recreate this whole model in LEGO our lives will be complete.
