Space Shuttle: Mission to the Future, 1981 Film

by Kenny Hoeschen

The U.S. Space Shuttle program had some terrible setbacks over the years, but it had an incredible impact on space exploration over its 30-year history. This film was put together back in 1981, prior to the shuttle Columbia’s first launch in April of that year. The film depicts a simulated flight of Columbia.

It’s incredible to look back at the space shuttle program prior to the 135 space shuttle launches, which carried 355 individuals from 16 countries into orbit, traveling more than 542 million miles.
