Peter Jackson’s Final Video Diary for The Hobbit

by Kenny Hoeschen

With The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug appearing in theaters soon, Peter Jackson returns with yet another of his production video diaries, taking us behind the scenes on the shooting of the film. In this behind-the-scenes look at the music of the film, composer Howard Shore discusses his process of making the score. We also visit the Wellington Town Hall for the recording of the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra as they play the music for the film, including the new themes for Tauriel, Laketown, and Smaug. After seeing this, we may go see the film again and listen for the music throughout.
