Transcendence: A Dramatic New Trailer

Transcendence is a film based on predictions made by futurists and scientists of events that may occur in the near future. For example, the Singularity is based on a prediction by Ray Kurzweil to occur around the year 2045 when artificial intelligence becomes smarter than the human mind. In the film, two leading computer scientists work toward their goal of Technological Singularity (often simply called the Singularity), as a radical anti-technology organization fights to prevent them from creating a world where computers can transcend the abilities of the human brain.

Johnny Depp plays Will Caster and Rebecca Hall Caster’s wife, Evelyn. Will, the forefather of A.I., has his consciousness uploaded onto the Internet. Once there, is it really Will who is interacting with humanity in order to make things better, or a darker sinister clone bent on the termination of the world as we know it?

Transcendance will be in theaters April 17, 2014. The film is written by Jack Paglen, directed by Wally Pfister, and produced by Christopher Nolan. The cast includes Johnny Depp, Kate Mara, Rebecca Hall, Cillian Murphy, Morgan Freeman, Kate Mara, Rebecca Hall and Paul Bettany.
