Hubble Finds Water on 5 Alien Planets

by Kenny Hoeschen
Hubble Finds Water on 5 Alien Planetszoom in

The Hubble Space Telescope has detected water in the atmospheres of five exoplanets. But don’t get your SIGG bottles packed just yet, the five planets are all scorching hot worlds that wouldn’t be very inviting. Hubble was able to examine the planets’ atmospheres by watching them pass in front of their host star. As the wavelengths of light are absorbed, the researchers can determine the atmosphere’s makeup. The process is truly cutting edge science as it is extremely difficult to detect the atmosphere if planets so far off.
