Everything Wrong With Pacific Rim

by Kenny Hoeschen

We are big fans of Guillermo del Toro’s giant monster-vs-giant robot film, Pacific Rim, but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t without its flaws. The folks over at CinemaSins take it to task in this “Everything Wrong With” episode.

We did wonder how the Jaegers and kaiju could be fully submersed in the ocean then rise up to find the water was only about knee deep. And did anyone think those coastal walls would actually stop the kaiju? They barely slowed them down. Although CinemaSins’s analysis of the three-pilot Chinese Jaeger is, perhaps, a bit over analyzed. But we agree that the automated giant blue energy cannon idea is great. They should’ve built those instead of that wall.
