The Hobbit: Inside Beorn’s Astounding Home

by Kenny Hoeschen

Warner Bros. takes us inside Beorn’s home in this behind-the-scenes clip from the filming of The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug. We also hear from Peter Jackson and several of the film’s producers and actors, who share a bit about what it takes to put the film together. Beorn (played by Mikael Persbrandt), is a skinchanger, who has the ability to take the form of a bear, and his house is in scale to his huge size.

After sleeping on a giant bed of gold and jewels for centuries, Smaug the Magnificent is awoken from his slumber by a small Hobbit going by the name of Bilbo Baggins. The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug is the second film in the Peter Jackson trilogy based on the J.R.R. Tolkien novel.

Martin Freeman returns as Bilbo Baggins, Orlando Bloom as Legolas, Hugo Weaving as Elrond, and Ian McKellen as Gandalf. Evangeline Lilly joins the trilogy as the elf, Tauriel and the dragon, Smaug, is voiced by Benedict Cumberbatch.

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug enters U.S. theaters on December 13.
