The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug Full Trailer

Thorin Oakenshield seeks to return to his throne under the Lonely Mountain and retrieve the Arkenstone, with the help of a Hobbit’s bravery, in this terrific new trailer for The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug.

After sleeping on a giant bed of gold and jewels for centuries, Smaug the Magnificent is awoken from his slumber by a small Hobbit going by the name of Bilbo Baggins. The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug is the second film in the Peter Jackson trilogy based on the J.R.R. Tolkien novel.

Martin Freeman returns as Bilbo Baggins, Orlando Bloom as Legolas, Hugo Weaving as Elrond, and Ian McKellen as Gandalf. Evangeline Lilly joins the trilogy as the elf, Tauriel and the dragon, Smaug, is voiced by Benedict Cumberbatch.

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug enters U.S. theaters on December 13.
