The Creature Department: An Amazing Children’s BookNovember 4th, 2013
The Creature Department is the latest book from author Robert Paul Weston, who previously wrote the wonderful Zorgamazoo and illustrated by Framestore, the group behind the animated creatures in the Harry Potter films and the 18-minute opening sequence of the film Gravity.
The book tells the story of Elliot Von Doppler and his friend Leslie who discover a world of weird wonders behind a door inside the DENKi-3000 electronics factory in their hometown of Bickleburgh. Beneath the glass towers and glittering skywalks, there’s a rambling old mansion from which all the company’s amazing inventions spring forth. And no one except Uncle Archie knows what’s behind the second-to-last door at the end of the hall. When Elliot and Leslie are invited inside, they find stooped, troll-like creatures, tiny winged things that sparkle and fly, and huge, hairy, hulking beasts. But when the manufacturing plants is threatened with closing, Elliot and Leslie must scramble to save the Creature Department.
One of the main creatures in the book is Gugor, a knuckle crumpler, who came to life at this year’s New York Comic-Con. Check out the video below.
The book looks to be a wonderful blend of storytelling and illustrations and we can’t wait to share it. It is available for purchase tomorrow, November 5.
