Ender’s Game: Building Ender’s World
October 23rd, 2013Harrison Ford (Colonel Hyrum Graff), Producers Roberto Orci, Gigi Pritzker, and Ed Ulbrich and Screenwriter/Director Gavin Hood discuss the visual effects and the environments created for the film Ender’s Game. Based on the highly regarded Orson Scott Card novel, this film certainly has a strong storyline to build on. It remains to be seen how well the book will adapt to the big screen. Gavin Hood has a shaky sci-fi past, having directed the widely panned X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
Scott Card’s novel won the 1985 Nebula Award for best novel and the 1986 Hugo Award for best novel. The story centers around Andrew “Ender” Wiggin (Asa Butterfield), who is recruited by the International Fleet at the age of six because of his promise in the early monitoring done by the IF. Ender begins his training at Battle School immediately after he’s recruited and his exceptional promise becomes apparent. After Ender is chosen to lead Earth’s armies against the Buggers, Colonel Hyrum Graff (Harrison Ford) and the legendary commander Mazer Rackham (Ben Kingsley) are assigned the difficult task of ensuring that Ender will be ready for the epic battle.
Ender’s Game enters U.S. theaters on November 1.
