50th Anniversary of the First Woman in Space

With the film Gravity, which stars Sandra Bullock as a scientist caught in a disaster during a space walk, performing well at the box office and with critics, we thought it appropriate to share this artwork honoring Soviet cosmonaut Valentina Tereshkova, the first woman to have flown in space in 1963, and other female space pioneers.
