Creating the Star Trek: Into Darkness Title Sequence

by Kenny Hoeschen

Creator of the Video Copilot website and the title sequences for Fringe and Star Trek: Into Darkness, Andrew Kramer, walks through how he created the title sequence for J.J. Abrams’s Star Trek: Into Darkness. Since the film was in both 2D and 3D, the sequences had to work with each. The team rendered everything in Adobe After Effects and their own plug-in, Element 3D.

In this video, Kramer explains what went into making the sequences and the challenges they encountered along with the solutions. The techniques they used are amazing and we love the results. We’re definitely going to apply all these effects to our next home movies.
