Five Hours of Documentary Footage of Alien and Aliens

by Kenny Hoeschen

Ridley Scott’s 1979 film, Alien, and James Cameron’s 1986 film, Aliens, are both science fiction classics and will still scare the bejesus out of you. Both films were groundbreaking in their cinematography, special effects and storytelling and helped define the new age of epic sci-fi horror films.

There are two terrific documentaries on the films. First, The Beast Within: The Making of Alien takes fans behind the scenes with a look at the making of Alien. With interviews with director Ridley Scott master designer H.R. Giger, as well as with star Sigourney Weaver and other members of the cast and crew. Second, Superior Firepower: The Making of “Aliens” is an in-depth, behind the scenes look at the James Cameron film and was first included on the 2003 DVD release. The documentary includes interviews with director James Cameron as well as Lance Henrikson, who played the android, Bishop, in the film.

Both documentaries are now available online and you can watch them now. We’ve embedded The Beast Within: The Making of Alien above and Superior Firepower: The Making of “Aliens” below to get you started.
