Little Kaiju: An Adorable Short Film

by Kenny Hoeschen

This enchanting short tale tells the story of a little monster (kaiju) living in a vending machine in Tokyo and its adventures after dark.

The inspiration for the film is described by the filmmakers: “The idea for Little Kaiju (which means ‘little monster’ in Japanese) came from our love of the absurdly cute vs our love for dark shadowy corners in cities across the sea. Tokyo was perfect, with its abundance bright neon, dark alleyways and mysterious vending machines selling who knows what. We also heard they like cute stuff. So we went there, this what we found.”

Little Kaiju was a labor of love created by Twin (Jonathan and Josh Baker). The character was designed by Morten Rowley and animated by Nick Losq and his team.
