AMP: A Man and His Robot Buddy by District 9 Animator

by Kenny Hoeschen

Directed by Adam Marisett and written by Marisett and Casey Chourney, AMP is a short film about Quinn, who has a faithful robot companion, Amp. Ten years after leaving a war his father started, Quinn and Amp live in the slums selling illegal custom-tech just to afford the batteries that keep Amp alive. When an old childhood friend tracks him down, Quinn is confronted with the dilemma of choosing to remain idle in a city run by the corrupt Coreley Corporation or finally finish the war he never wanted to be a part of.

The style of this film is terrific and it’s easy to see Marisett’s experience as an animator on District 9 shine through. And the fight scenes involving Amp look terrific.
