Everything Wrong with District 9 in Under 3 Minutes

by Kenny Hoeschen

CinemaSins have given us some great looks at the sins of science fiction films before, for example Superman ReturnsMen In Black 3, and Godzilla (1998). Here they look at the sins of Neill Blomkamp’s well-received 2009 film, District 9. Of course, the timing of this analysis is in line with the August 9 premiere of Blomkamp’s latest sci-fi film, Elysium. District 9 receives the award for “lowest sin count” to date.

District 9 was a well done film and generally well received by critics and science fiction fans. The “sins” here are few. We did find the spelling errors amusing and the fact that the radio operator calls in the wrong identifying code for the alien shack.
