Extinction: An Animated Story of the Last Dodo

by Kenny Hoeschen

Originally created for the BBC Science Club by Asa Lucander and a team of animators, Extinction is a short, animated film about scientists’ first reaction to the disappearance of the dodo. It’s incredible for us to look back now and hear that scientists had no concept of “extinction” as a concept and that unique fossils, like that of the mammoth, were merely bones of animals that hadn’t yet been found alive.
