Zombie Guts: Inside The Walking Dead

by Kenny Hoeschen

Disgusting. In this clip, AMC’s The Walking Dead’s Executive Producer Greg Nicotero, along with Ernest Dickerson, the episode’s Director, and Producer Denise Huth describe their approach to filming a scene where Daryl and Rick open a walker and dig out whatever they can find inside. Nicotero provides some really gruesome entrails for the scene and Huth describes her wish to make the scene as gross and disgusting as possible.

It was interesting to see the side-by-side shot of what Andrew Lincoln (Rick Grimes) and Norman Reedus (Daryl Dixon) actually did during the filming and the final product seen on screen.

The Walking Dead returns to AMC in October with another 16-episode season. We are looking forward to more zombie-killing mayhem.
