How Will the World End? The Science Explained

by Kenny Hoeschen

Universe Today publisher Fraser Cain looks at how the world will end. There’s almost nothing that could destroy Earth as we know it, although there are a number of events that could greatly damage our ecosystem and even wipe out humans. Our biggest threat comes from the Sun which will one day become a red giant. The Sun will either consume Earth or Earth will continue to exist in a cold, dead solar system. In the latter case, the dead Earth could exist as a planet for years and years and years and may even last essentially forever.
