Superman’s Fortess of Solitude: It’s a Little Pricey
June 28th, 2013

Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel scored a record opening weekend box office, bringing in over $113 million. Still, that amount wouldn’t even make a down payment on Superman’s icy, crystalline Fortess of Solitude. The folks over at The Movoto real estate blog took a stab at estimated the value of the brief-less Man of Steel recently and estimated its value at a staggering $814 trillion (with a “T”). Since the FoS is made of a Kryptonian crystal known as sunstone that doesn’t actually exist on Earth, Movoto begins by making the assumption that our equivalent might be diamond, which means you’d need a lot of very, very large diamonds to create it. The estimated size of the FoS varies depending on the source of the story, but Movoto started with the dome-like version in Man of Steel and estimated it to be about 7,065,000 cubic feet. That would require over 2,000,000 of the largest known diamonds and, thus, the value would be about $814,000,000,000,000.
Seems pricey, considering the polar location. But, it is in a quiet neighborhood. Thus the name.
