The Evolution of Superman’s Shield Glyph
June 11th, 2013

Kate Willaert (who previously brought us the evolution of Iron Man’s armors) designed this chart of the evolution of Superman’s glyph (it’s not an “S”) for HalloweenCostumes.com. From its first appearance 75 years ago on the cover of Action Comics #1 and its pop culture appearances beginning with the animated shorts done by Fleischer Studios in 1941 and the George Reeves series beginning in 1948 through DC Universe’s comic book reboot as The New 52 and Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel, which comes out this Friday if you haven’t yet heard.
