Help Put the TARDIS Into Orbit
June 6th, 20133 Stags, a film production company, has launched a Kickstarter project to put a replica of the TARDIS into space to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the first airing of Doctor Who on the BBC. The replica TARDIS, built by the team, has solar panels along with a camera that will be pointed at Earth and will transmit images back to us mere Earthlings. The TARDIS will be launched into low Earth orbit as payload on a real, actual, honest-to-goodness rocket.
The team is looking to raise $33,000 and has, as of this writing, already raised almost $10,000. The TARDIS replica will contain a hard drive and, for a pledge of $25 or more, your name and message will be contained on the hard drive. If you pledge $50, you et to put up to 1 MB of data on the hard drive — a video, sing a song, or whatever.
