Ginormous Infographic: How Big is Space?

Ginormous Infographic: How Big is Space?zoom in

A few months ago, the BBC posted an infographic trying to illustrate the relative size of space. Beginning with Earth, the infographic spanned 27 pages of A4 paper to the edge of our solar system (the end of the heliosphere). While it seems the BBC has removed that image from its site, we think it’s worth sharing. The long infographic above is 1 of the 5 images that make up the entire infographic. If you’re willing you can find the full infographic stitched together here. As the BBC notes at the end of that very long image, it would take you 22 million years of continuous scrolling at this scale to reach the farthest regions of the known universe.
