Pacific Rim: Oversized Robot Set Featurette

by Kenny Hoeschen

Once again, Guillermo del Toro takes us behind the scenes of Pacific Rim. This time he discusses the set that was created for the interior of the Jaeger robots and the two pilots’ control room. The team built a set of the head of the Jaeger robot and the resulting set was about four stories tall and the whole set was made to shake to simulate the robot’s motion and the battles with the Kaiju. With that, the actors were actually attached to machinery like that required to control the Jaeger.

Pacific Rim hits theaters July 12.
