Human Angle: Cosplaying the Part

by Kenny Hoeschen

Ger Tysk is a professional cosplayer and this short film by polygon,¬†Human Angle: Cosplaying the Part, follows her story. Tysk was inspired to go into cosplaying from playing RPGs and many of her costumes involved RPG video game and anime characters, like Elizabeth from Bioshock Infinite. In this film, she discusses how cosplay has become more mainstream. She views it as an artform and a form of expression one’s personality and view of the world. She discusses how she creates her pieces and how she got started in cosplay. We also join Tysk on a photo shoot in New York with her World Ends With You cosplay group and in Central Park with a larger group of her cosplayer friends as part of a book she’s putting together about cosplay.
