May 10th, 2013Bill Bryan, who was the man inside the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man suit in Ghostbusters also made the suit for that memorable character. The Stan Winston School has posted an interview with Bryan. Bryan explains some of the problems they encountered with the early versions of the suit and how they tried to solve them. His early inspirations came from Jim Henson’s muppets and that motivated Bryan to become a puppet maker, costume maker, and eventually a special effects monster maker. Bryan also provides some insight into his unique and entertaining creative process.
Some of Bryan’s early professional work included a duck costume for Rick Dees’ Disco Duck (warning: this act is horrible), and he worked on Sonny and Cher, Donny and Marie and eventually Dune, Ghostbusters, Jurassic Park III, and Men in Black among many others.
