Walt Disney World is adding a new experience to this year’s Star Wars Weekends event at Disney’s Hollywood Studios theme park. Beginning on May 17, visitors will have the chance to create custom Stormtrooper figures featuring their own face. The 10-minute experience uses the world’s highest-resolution, single-shot 3D face scanner to capture the aspiring Stormtrooper’s likeness. That captured image is later sent to a high resolution 3D printer to create the figurine. The completed figurine stands approximately 7.25″ tall and will arrive about 7-8 weeks after the experience (hey, one does not simply become a Stormtrooper overnight). The cost is $100.

Also returning this year is the popular exhibit which allows visitors to have themselves permanently cast into carbonite, just like Han Solo in The Empire Strikes Back. Using state-of-the-art imaging technology, your likeness is cast as a three-dimensional, eight-inch figurine. Each carbonite figurine is $100. Ricky Brigante of InsideTheMagic shares his experience at last year’s exhibit here.

Star Wars Weekends in 2013 are May 17 – 19, May 24 – 26, May 31 – June 2, and June 7 – 9. To book your experience, please call 407-WDW-TECH.
