Exhibit: How Japan’s Science Fiction Films Are Made

by Kenny Hoeschen
Exhibit: How Japan’s Science Fiction Films Are Madezoom in

The Museum of Art in Ehime, Japan is currently hosting an exhibit showing how some of the great Japanese monster movies such as Gojira, Godzilla, and Ultraman were made before the days of CGI animation. The Japan Tourist Blog visits the exhibit, which includes actual models used in the making of some of the films along with descriptions and examples of the filming techniques used. You can see how creatures like Mothra and Mechagodzilla were made and the craftsmanship that went into them.

We would love to see the Mechagodzilla suit in person and maybe even try it on for a few minutes just to scare the small children.

The exhibit runs through June 23.
