Game of Thrones Theme Played on Bells

by Kenny Hoeschen

This version of the Game of Thrones theme song is played on bells at the Carillon Tower at the University of Wisconsin – Madison. Forget the strings, we think the theme is better suited to a giant bell tower. The Carillon was dates back to 1936 and has 56 bells ranging in size from 15 to 6,823 pounds. Lyle Anderson, who plays the theme so wonderfully, has been UW-Madison’s official carillonneur for almost 30 years.

If you’d like to hear more from Anderson, he opens up the Carillon Tower on Bascom Hill every Sunday at 3:00 PM during the school year and performs a one-hour concert on the fully mechanical, four-and-a-half octave, 56-bell instrument. On Wisconsin!
