“The Green Girl”: A Film About Actress Susan Oliver

by Kenny Hoeschen
$5 - $10,000   Pledge

Susan Oliver was the television guest star between 1957 and 1973. She famously appeared as the green Orion slave girl, Vina, in the pilot Star Trek episodeĀ “The Cage.” Filmmaker George Pappy has launched a Kickstarter project to produce a documentary about Oliver’s prolific career. Over the past year, Pappy has been traveling the country to film interviews with people who worked with or admired Oliver. He’s already held interviews with Lee Meriwether and Celeste Yarnall (both with Star Trek credentials), Roosevelt “Rosey” Grier, and with surviving members of Oliver’s family, along with many others.

To date, Pappy has raised over $62,000 towards his goal of $80,000. The pledge period ends on March 3 at 2:59 AM. Check out Pappy’s Kickstarter project page for details on his plans for the funds. If you pledge $30, you’ll not only contribute to the project, you’ll receive a Susan Oliver “Green Girl” t-shirt. $45 gets you the t-shirt plus the DVD of the completed film. If you pledge $1,000 you will be invited to the film’s premiere in Los Angeles and a larger pledge earns you producer credits and more.
